"AT&T (NYSE: T) announced a new service it is using from MobileIron called MobileIron Virtual Smartphone Platform (VSP) that is designed to help enterprises secure and manage smartphones on multiple operating systems.
The service is designed to provide over-the-air protection and control for smartphones that are both company-issued and employee-owned and is described as an easy-to-install server. The solution is expected to become available at the end of November, AT&T said.
Mobile device management has become a hot topic in recent months. Research firm IDC predicts the worldwide market for it will grow at a CAGR of 7.6 percent during the next five years to reach $382.7 million in revenues by 2014."

An Executive View on Enterprise Mobility with Bob Tinker.
Bob Tinker, President and CEO of MobileIron, comments: "Data security is the classic risk. But, the risks have evolved. It’s less about the block-and-tackling encryption and password policies in order to protect a lost device. It’s now about a more complex risk of individual behavior, data movement, and knowing what enterprise data is out on your mobile devices. There is a huge amount of data moving in and out of enterprise smartphones, whether through email, via SD cards, or via 3rd party web services. The next wave of mobile security will be focused on behavior and data movement."
