"On the downside, Apple hasn't added any new device management or security features for enterprise management so it doesn't make the device inherently enterprise-grade.
'From what we have seen so far, this will not be enough to get IT managers to throw away their BES and start handing out corporate-liable iPhones, but it should help maintain Apple's momentum on those 'supported' lists,' noted research firm Current Analysis. 'In addition, nearly every third-party mobile device management software company now supports the iPhone, adding extra management and security features that are not part of the iPhone OS. Mobile middleware companies such as Antenna Software are also coming out with ways to separate corporate Web apps from personal apps and data, making personal-liable iPhones in the enterprise a more acceptable compromise.'"
